New Features- Field Changer and Data Cleansing

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

Hello,

We’ve been hard at work at Avetio and are constantly looking at ways to improve your experience and make communication with your clients as simple and effective as possible. We’re excited, and we hope you will be too, when you discover how you can benefit from our new features.

We would like to introduce to you: Field Changer and Data Cleansing

1. Field Changer

Why use Field Changer?

Simply put, Field Changer makes your audience feel special by personalising messages.
The more personalised the message, the more it relates to the individual, so it engages with them and builds trust.

What is it?

Field Changer can help you to tailor your message so it is specific to each customer, by allowing you to provide different contact information to different customers in a single SMS message template.
For example, send an SMS “Call the [field1] office on [field2] for more information”, replacing the fields with local branch names and numbers. If we replace [field 1] with “Leeds” and [field2] with “02071833148”, the message will read:

“Call the Leeds office on 02071833148 for more information”

How do I use Field Changer?

It’s very simple – just use the following 4 steps:

Step A. Use the Excel Layout template to insert your chosen numbers and fields. This can be found in the Excel Send tab. Save the file on your desktop.

Step B. Select your saved file in the browse option in Excel Send.

Step C. When typing a message, type [field1] which corresponds to text for field1 in your excel file.

Rules for writing messages:
• remember to use square brackets i.e. [field1] not (field1)
• do not put a space between “field” and number i.e. [field1] not [field 1]
• use lower case only i.e. [field1] not [FIELD1]

Step D. Send your message or schedule to send at a later time.

..See, we said it was simple!

What if I don’t want to use Field Changer but still want to upload my numbers using Excel Send?

No worries, this features hasn’t gone away. You can still continue to upload numbers using an xls or csv file. As usual, place all your mobile numbers in column A of an xls/csv file, upload and you are ready to send!

And now for feature number 2…

2. Data Cleansing

Why use Data Cleansing?

It ensures your customer data works effectively for you over the long-term.

What is it?

Data cleansing comes with a variety of helpful features which all have one aim – to make your data get the best results for you.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes and have now bunched together types of numbers that are considered ‘Bad Numbers’.

What is a Bad Number?

Bad Numbers are numbers which are either classified as Opt Out, Invalid or Duplicate

Opt Out= Numbers which have opted out from receiving communication.

Invalid= Numbers which have alpha values or the incorrect number of digits. For numbers which have spaces in them, our system takes the spaces out and counts them as valid.

Duplicate= Numbers which are repeated either because they are in your data file or account already.

What happens now?

These ‘bad numbers’ are now automatically taken care of by our system, so you don’t have to worry and can continue sending messages to customers that count.

Networks don’t accept numbers which include a space e.g 07544 322130.  Now our system cleverly recognises this and removes spaces, so you don’t have to.

If a customer messages in to opt out of communication, our system will now remember this and automatically move them to refrain from receiving further communication. We’re always thinking ahead!

Can I see which are Bad Numbers so I can amend my database?

Yes, in short for Opt Outs. Please go the Data Cleansing Manager Tab and click on ‘Export All’ to export out your Opt Outs.

What about customers that automatically Opt-Out?

If a customer decides to opt out of further communication, they may either notify you directly or send a STOP message to your keyword or dedicated number.

If a customer is in Client Manager, the system will automatically update this client to be in the Data Cleansing Manager Tab. It is still possible to manually change a customer to Opt Out in the Client Manager or Data Cleansing Tab.

If a customer is not in Client Manager and texts in to Opt Out, the number will still appear in the Data Cleansing Manager tab and further communication will not be sent to this number.

For further details about Field Changer or Data Cleansing, please see the user guide which can be found on the top RHS in your account. If you have any questions or queries, please feel free to contact us by email support@avetio.com or 0207 1833 148.

We hope you soon see the benefits of our new features – let us know how you’re getting on.
